The final World Cup group B game is upon us with Wales needing a win against England to have a chance of progressing to the round of 16 stage.

There are a couple of possible outcomes that can happen on Tuesday night if Wales are indeed to reach the round of 16 stage. Wales will progress with a win if the Iran v USA match ends in a draw. If either Iran or USA win, Wales would need to beat England by four goals to see them progress and England knocked out of the competition.

Southgate’s side will advance if they avoid a four-goal defeat, while a win would guarantee top spot.

It’s fair to say Wales’s World Cup campaign has been a disappointing one thus far with just a point on the board after two matches. Wales played their best football in the second half against the USA but weren’t able to find anywhere near those performance levels against Iran, a game they lost 2-0.

There are calls for manager Rob Page to give the likes of Dan James and Brennan Johnson a starting spot in a bid to take the game to England, but will Page make the change?

Despite a below par performance from Gareth Southgate’s men against the USA which saw them play out a goalless draw, England will still be confident going into tonight’s match after hitting Iran for six in their opening game.

England have the possibility of rotating their squad for tonight’s match, but this won’t mean an easier game with attacking talent such as Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and Marcus Rashford to call upon.

It’s safe to say a lot can change in the space of 90 minutes and with both group B matches kicking off at 7pm on Tuesday night it’s bound to be an exciting evening of football.
