Eight games to go in the JD Cymru Premier season and both The New Saints and Connah’s Quay are level on points at the top of the table.

CHAMPIONSHIP CONFERENCE

Connah’s Quay (2nd) v Barry Town United (4th) Saturday – 17:15

These two teams will have contrasting emotions following Tuesday night’s fixtures as Connah’s Quay will be buoyant after scoring six past Caernarfon Town, while Barry Town United will still be sombre after conceding six at home against The New Saints.

Champions Connah’s Quay will travel to Oswestry next Saturday for a face-off with The New Saints, and with the two teams currently level on points, both clubs will be determined not to waver before the all-important contest.

Barry Town United are now six points adrift of Bala Town in the race for 3rd place, and automatic European qualification could slip further from the Dragons’ reach this Saturday as they have failed to win any of their last eight meetings with the Nomads (lost four, drawn four).

Bala Town (3rd) Caernarfon Town (6th) Saturday – 17:15

Following a fantastic run of eight games without defeat, Caernarfon Town have withered again recently, losing three games on the bounce.

Bala Town took a giant step towards securing their ticket to Europe after a vital win at Pen-y-bont in midweek, and Colin Caton will be keen to strengthen the Lakesiders’ grasp on 3rd spot this Saturday.

But Bala Town have lost three of their last four games at Maes Tegid, including a 2-1 defeat to Caernarfon Town less than a month ago.

The New Saints (1st) v Pen-y-bont (5th) Saturday – 17:15 (S4C)

Anthony Limbrick has had the perfect start to his reign as The New Saints’ manager, winning both of his opening games in charge without conceding a single goal.

The Shropshire side have won their last five fixtures with Ryan Brobbel making a phenomenal impression since his return from injury, scoring eight goals in four games.

Pen-y-bont are seven points behind Bala Town in the hunt for European qualification, and Rhys Griffiths’ squad face a momentous task on Saturday as his club have lost all five of their previous meetings with The New Saints.

PLAY-OFF CONFERENCE

Aberystwyth Town (9th) v Flint Town United (10th) Friday – 19:45

With 11 points separating these two teams and the elusive 7th position, it could be fair to say that the play-offs are now realistically out of reach for both Aberystwyth Town and Flint Town United.

But after securing their biggest win of the season on Saturday (Flint 5-0 Cefn), and since the Silkmen won 3-0 in their previous meeting with the Seasiders, Neil Gibson will be looking forward intently to this Friday night fixture.

Cefn Druids (12th) v Cardiff Met (11thSaturday – 17:15

The bottom two sides breathed a sigh of relief when the announcement was made earlier this week that no club will be relegated from the JD Cymru Premier this season.

Cefn Druids are unbeaten in their last six home matches against Cardiff Met, and a win for the Ancients this weekend would lift them above the students and off the bottom of the table.

The most significant game in the Bottom Six comes from Latham Park as Haverfordwest County have an opportunity to go 11 points clear of the trailing pack.

Newtown are their fiercest threat, but its been only three weeks since the Robins were thumped 3-0 at home against the Bluebirds.
