This Friday, Bala Town and Caernarfon Town go head-to-head in a crucial match in the race for the Top Six, while Pen-y-bont look to secure their place in the top half.

Friday, 4 February

Pen-y-bont (4th) v Barry Town United (10th) | Friday – 19:45

Pen-y-bont only need three points from their next three games to cement their place in the Top Six for the second consecutive season.

The Bryntirion boys have lost just once in their last seven games which was a narrow defeat at the home of table toppers The New Saints (TNS 3-2 Pen).

Barry Town United claimed an impressive 3-2 away win at Connah’s Quay last Saturday, ending a 19 year wait for a victory at the Deeside Stadium.

The Dragons have reached the Top Six for the last three years and are mathematically still in the race this season, although Gavin Chesterfield will be more concentrated on expanding the four-point gap between themselves and the bottom two.

Rhys Griffiths’ Pen-y-bont team are unbeaten in their last four meetings with Barry Town United, winning three of those fixtures without conceding a goal.

Bala Town (5th) v Caernarfon Town (7th) | Friday – 19:45

There’s only two points separating Bala Town and Caernarfon Town in the race for the Top Six, and with the clubs meeting again in a week’s time, this double-header could make or break their seasons.

Caernarfon Town have reached the Top Six in each of the last three seasons, while Bala Town have finished in the top half for seven consecutive years.

Bala Town are unbeaten in their last four outings (three clean sheets) and a win on Friday would leave the Lakesiders only two points behind 2nd placed Flint Town United in the automatic European spot.

The Cofis have lost just one of their last four meetings with Bala Town (won two, drawn one) and Huw Griffiths will be relieved that Chris Venables will remain suspended for the next two matches as the Bala captain and talisman has scored eight goals in his last seven games against Caernarfon Town.
