Following the end of the firebreak lockdown, all twelve JD Cymru Premier clubs will be back in action this weekend for a full set of league fixtures.

Friday13 November

Caernarfon v Connah’s Quay | Friday – 19:4

The threeweek break has proven costly to the champions Connah’s Quaywho now find themselves five points behind league leaders, The New Saints.

On the other hand, the break came at a good time for a Nomads side who were riddled with injuries, and the well needed rest may have benefitted Andy Morrison’s men in the long run.

The Nomads have won their last three games against Caernarfon, all at home, scoring 11 goals (at least 3 goals per game), but it ended goalless in their last meeting at the Oval back in August 2019.

After failing to beat Haverfordwest and Cefn Druids in their last two outings, Huw Griffiths’ Canaries will be determined for a positive result against the champions on Friday night.

Caernarfon have signed three players from Prestatyn over the last few weeks who could make their debuts for the Cofis on Friday (James Stead and two ex-Nomads – Mike Parker and Jack Kenny).

Cardiff Met v Aberystwyth | Friday – 19:45

Only one point separates these two teams in the bottom half, but a win for either side could see them climb into the Top Six.

Cardiff Met were on a run of seven games without a win before beating Flint Town at Cyncoed in their last match.

Aber have also only won one in six, but they did pick up a good point at home to TNS before the latest lockdown.

Saturday, 14 November

Cefn Druids v Haverfordwest | Saturday – 14:30

** postponed **

Haverfordwest were one of the three clubs who did carry on playing through the firebreak period, and despite only picking up one point from a possible six they certainly gave a good account of themselves in tough fixtures against The New Saints and Bala Town.

Cefn Druids are at rock bottom after winning only one of their eight league games this season.

These clubs were scheduled to meet on the opening weekend of the season but the match was postponed as the FAW deemed that Covid-19 safety protocols had not been followed, which means that this will be the first meeting between the sides since April 2010.

Bala Town v Pen-y-bont | Saturday – 14:30

Bala Town have only lost one of their 10 league games this season (Bala 1-2 Hav), and Colin Caton’s side are on a run of six games without defeat following their draw with TNS last Saturday.

Pen-y-bont have been the surprise package this season and have only lost to last season’s top three so far in this campaign (Connah’s Quay, The New Saints and Bala Town).

But the head-to-head statistics doesn’t look too good for Rhys Griffiths’ side as they’ve lost all three of their previous league meetings with Bala, conceding an average of five goals per game.

Newtown v Flint Town | Saturday – 14:30

Level on points in the 10th and 11th spot both clubs need a change in form if they are to avoid a relegation scrap this season.

Newtown have only won once this season while Flint Town have lost six on the bounce.

It was Flint who won the reverse fixture on the opening weekend of the season, with Nathan Craig netting the only goal of the game on his debut for the Silkmen.

The New Saints v Barry Town | Saturday – 17:15 (S4C)

The New Saints are top of the table, the only club who remain unbeaten in the Cymru Premier (won 8, drawn 2).

After an impressive run of five consecutive victories from September to October, Barry Town have hit a wall and have now gone three games without a win.

The New Saints beat Barry on the opening weekend (Barr 0-3 TNS), but Gavin Chesterfield’s Dragons haven’t lost on their last two visits to Park Hall (drawn 1, won 1).
