Three rounds of matches remain in the JD Cymru Premier season, and the excitement is building in the Bottom Six.

Following an unexpected home victory against Haverfordwest County last weekend, Bala Town are still fighting to avoid relegation, with five points separating Steve Fisher’s side from the two clubs above them — Flint Town United and Cardiff Met.

Briton Ferry Llansawel and Haverfordwest County are level on points and goal difference in the race for 7th place, and the two sides will meet in a decisive clash at the Bridge Meadow this Saturday.

The New Saints have secured their fifth consecutive title, while Connah’s Quay Nomads have claimed second place — meaning both clubs will represent Wales in European competition this summer.

Next month, Caernarfon Town and Flint Town United will compete for the third European spot in the final of the Welsh Cup, while the fourth and final European place will go to the winners of the play-offs.

TOP SIX

Caernarfon Town (6th) v The New Saints (1st) | Friday – 19:45

Caernarfon Town have slipped to 6th place after winning just one of their eight league matches in 2026, and only two of their last 14 league games overall.

The Cofis will compete in the Welsh Cup final for the first time ever on 12 April, and victory would secure European football for next season.

However, with their league form struggling, the Cofi Army may be feeling slightly cautious ahead of facing Flint Town United in the final — the only team yet to lose in the league since the split.

The New Saints have secured the JD Cymru Premier title for the 18th time in their history and for the fifth consecutive season.

Despite that success, this season could still be seen as disappointing for the Saints, with only one trophy heading to Oswestry after achieving at least a domestic double in 10 of their previous 12 campaigns.

Caernarfon Town’s squad includes several former Saints players, including three currently on loan from Park Hall who will be ineligible to play on Friday — Sion Bradley, Josh Lock and Zack Clarke.

However, other ex-Saints players will be available and eager to make their mark, including Connor Roberts, Adrian Cieslewicz, Daniel Gosset and Brad Young.

It will be a tough challenge for the Cofis, as The New Saints have won 18 of their last 19 matches against Caernarfon Town, including four victories this season.

Pen-y-bont (5th) v Colwyn Bay (3rd) | Saturday – 14:30

After a strong start to the campaign, Pen-y-bont’s season has fallen apart since November.

The collapse began at Llanelian Road in November, when the Blues lost 5-4 to Colwyn Bay, and since then Pen-y-bont have managed just one win in 13 matches (vs Llanelli Town).

Pen-y-bont have not beaten a Top Six side since September (vs Colwyn Bay), and Rhys Griffiths’ team have not scored more than once in a game since that 5-4 defeat against Mike Wilde’s men in November.

Colwyn Bay, meanwhile, are going from strength to strength and have climbed into 3rd place after impressive wins against Barry Town United and The New Saints.

The Seagulls have won three of their last four matches, with their opponents receiving a red card in each of those three victories.

Colwyn Bay have won their last two meetings with Pen-y-bont, scoring eight goals in the process — including a hat-trick from Jordan Davies at Llanelian Road.

Connah’s Quay (2nd) v Barry Town United (4th) | Sunday – 14:30

In John Disney’s first season in charge, Connah’s Quay Nomads have secured second place, confirming their spot in European competition next season.

The Nomads have been regulars on the European stage over the past decade, and after a year away following an 8th-place finish last season, Connah’s Quay fans will be preparing for another continental campaign this summer.

After a run of six games without a win, Connah’s Quay have turned a corner and won their last two matches as they look to finish the season strongly.

Barry Town United have also been in fine form, winning five of their last six matches and keeping four clean sheets.

It has been an excellent season for the Dragons under Steve Jenkins, with the team reaching the Top Six for the first time in five years and lifting the Nathaniel MG Cup for the first time in 25 years.

The head-to-head record between the sides has been even this season, with the first meeting ending goalless before Connah’s Quay won once and Barry Town United won once.

BOTTOM SIX

Haverfordwest County (8th) v Briton Ferry Llansawel (7th) | Saturday – 12:30 (Live online)

It could hardly be any tighter between Haverfordwest County and Briton Ferry Llansawel in the race to reach the play-offs, with the two sides level on both points and goal difference.

Briton Ferry Llansawel start the weekend in the crucial 7th place — only because they have scored one more goal than Haverfordwest County this season.

Final fixtures:

Haverfordwest County: Flint Town United (a), Llanelli Town (h)

Briton Ferry Llansawel: Cardiff Met (h), Bala Town (a)

Briton Ferry Llansawel will be full of confidence, having lost just one of their last 10 matches (six wins, three draws), and Andy Dyer’s side will be hoping to reach the play-offs for the first time in their history.

Haverfordwest County have kept seven clean sheets in their last 10 matches, and the Bluebirds will be aiming to win the play-offs for the second consecutive season under Tony Pennock.

Pennock’s side have beaten Briton Ferry Llansawel twice this season, but it was the Reds who came out on top at the Bridge Meadow in January, with Ollie Anderson and Thomas Walters scoring superb goals in a 3–2 victory for Llansawel.

Flint Town United (10th) v Llanelli Town (12th) | Saturday – 14:30

Flint Town United are the only club yet to lose a league match since the split (3 wins, 4 draws), but the Silkmen are still not mathematically safe from relegation.

A victory for Lee Fowler’s side against the bottom club should be enough to secure their place in the league for another season — unless Bala Town manage to beat Cardiff Met.

Final fixtures:

Flint Town United: Haverfordwest County (h), Cardiff Met (a)

Llanelli Town: Bala Town (h), Haverfordwest County (a)

With just two wins in 29 league matches and only 10 points on the board, it has been an extremely disappointing campaign for Llanelli Town, who are already certain to be relegated at the end of the season.

Flint Town have won all three previous meetings against Llanelli this season, keeping three clean sheets (Lli 0–5 Ffl, Ffl 4–0 Lli, Lli 0–2 Ffl), with lively forward Elliott Reeves scoring seven of the Silkmen’s 11 goals against the Reds.

Cardiff Met (9th) v Bala Town (11th) | Saturday – 14:30

The battle is almost over for Bala Town, as a defeat in the capital on Saturday afternoon could be enough to send the club down to the second tier.

If Cardiff Met beat Bala, and Flint defeat Llanelli, then Steve Fisher’s side will be guaranteed to finish 11th, confirming their relegation to the Cymru North.

Final fixtures:

Cardiff Met: Briton Ferry Llansawel (a), Flint Town United (h)
Bala Town: Llanelli Town (a), Briton Ferry Llansawel (h)

Bala Town have been members of the top flight for 16 years, and among current clubs only The New Saints have remained in the league continuously since Bala’s first season in 2009/10.

Bala Town did manage to beat Haverfordwest County 1–0 last Saturday to claim their first win since the split, but the Lakesiders still have a mountain to climb.

Cardiff Met are far from safe after winning just twice in their last 14 matches — both victories coming against bottom club Llanelli Town.

A defeat for Ryan Jenkins’s side on Saturday would leave them just two points above the relegation zone, while a win for the Archers would be enough to secure their place in the league for next season.

Bala Town: ❌❌➖➖✅

Highlights of all matches will be available on Sgorio’s online platforms.
