Aberystwyth Town (11th) v Newtown (4th) | Tuesday – 20:00

The re-arranged mid-Wales derby goes ahead on Tuesday night as Aberystwyth Town hope to climb out of the relegation zone, whilst Newtown try to take a step closer to consolidating a Top Six spot.

Both clubs will be disappointed after getting knocked out of the JD Welsh Cup on Saturday – Aberystwyth Town falling to a late 1-0 defeat at home against Bala Town, and Newtown losing on penalties against Colwyn Bay.

But in terms of league form, Aberystwyth Town have climbed off the bottom for the first time since the start of the season following back-to-back victories against Pen-y-bont and Barry Town United.

The Black & Greens have won three of their 14 league games this season, but their opponents have seen a man sent off in all three of those matches.

Newtown tend to be a club who go on extreme runs, and after eight consecutive wins up until mid-October, the Robins have now gone four games without a win (drawn one, lost three).

It ended goalless in the reverse fixture in August, but it was Newtown who won the four previous meetings, and Chris Hughes’ clan have came away triumphant after their last four visits to Park Avenue.

League form:

Aberystwyth Town: ✅✅❌➖❌

Newtown: ❌➖❌✅✅

Highlights will be available on Sgorio’s online platforms.
