After competing in the Scottish Challenge Cup last month, both The New Saints and Caernarfon Town have a game in hand in the league, and the clubs will play that fixture against each other this Tuesday.

 The New Saints (1st) v Caernarfon Town (5th) | Tuesday – 19:45

The New Saints are four points clear at the summit, and although we’re only in October it’s difficult to see anyone catching up with the Oswestry outfit this season.

Since their goalless draw with Newtown on the opening weekend, the Saints have won nine league games on the bounce, and Craig Harrison’s crew seem to have gone up a gear in the last month, scoring 24 goals in five matches.

Caernarfon Town have also had a pleasing start to their campaign, and after beating Aberystwyth Town over the weekend, Huw Griffiths’ gang still sit in 5th place.

But the Cofis have struggled on the road, losing all three of their away games in the league and have had to depend on their impressive home form to pick up their points, winning six out of seven at the Oval.

The New Saints are unbeaten in their last eight meetings with Caernarfon Town (winning seven, drawn one), and the JD Cymru Premier’s current top scorer Declan McManus (10 goals) will be looking to add his tally after netting in eight consecutive league matches.

The two teams will go head-to-head at Park Hall once again next month in the JD Welsh Cup third round on 11 November.
