The New Saints (6th) v Caernarfon Town (4th) | Wednesday – 19:45
The New Saints are in an unfamiliar position down in 6th place having lost two of their seven league matches to date, but with four games in hand Craig Harrison’s side will be confident that they can close the gap on the front runners.
Pen-y-bont are currently leading the pack, but if the Saints were to win their four games in hand, then the Oswestry outfit would rise one point above the Bryntirion boys.
A win on Wednesday night would be a good start for the current champions, and lift them above Caernarfon Town, who have been on an excellent run recently climbing from the bottom half to the top four.
The Cofis haven’t lost any of their last five league fixtures and picked up 13 points out of a possible 15 (4 wins, 1 draw).
This is the Canaries’ best period in the JD Cymru Premier since March 2021 when the club went on a run of eight league games without defeat during Huw Griffiths’ rein.
But Caernarfon Town have not won any of their last 15 meetings with TNS, with the Saints winning the previous 11 contests between the teams.
The New Saints scored 20 goals in four games against Caernarfon Town last season, including two hammerings after the split (Cfon 1-8 TNS, TNS 7-1 Cfon).
But although 10 different players netted for the Saints against the Cofis last year, none of the goals were as good as the brilliant strike scored by Sion Bradley for Caernarfon at the Oval in February.
Sion Bradley is now an important member of the Saints’ squad stars and is joint top scorer in the league after hitting six goals in seven appearances.
It will be a significant night for the winger against his former club as Caernarfon Town try to win at Park Hall for the first time since November 2018.
