Only seven out of the 12 JD Cymru Premier clubs have managed to reach the third round, and at least two more top tier teams will exit the competition over ther weekend as Cardiff Met face the New Saints, and Flint Town United welcome Bala Town on Saturday afternoon.

Cardiff Met played against The New Saints in the semi-final last season, and although the Archers took a 2-0 lead, the Saints fought back and eventually won 6-2.

Flint Town United and Bala Town have met in the cup in 2018, 2019 and 2022 and this will be the third match between the teams this season after the Lakesiders won at home before a 2-2 draw at the Essity Stadium last month.

Cup holders Connah’s Quay will travel to Trefelin from the JD Cymru South, where the Nomads won 4-0 in the third round in 2021.

After beating Aberystwyth Town in the last round, Ammanford will aim to cause another shock on Saturday against top tier Haverfordwest County.

Mold Alexandra will also be hoping to cause an upset as they host JD Cymru Premier’s bottom side, Briton Ferry Llansawel.

Three clubs from the fourth tier have managed to reach the third round, and all three will face teams from the JD Cymru South on Saturday.

And the Holy Island derby is one of the biggest games of the weekend as third tier sides, Holyhead Hotspur and Trearddur Bay battle for a place in the fourth round.
