With three games in hand, The New Saints could climb up to second place if they were to beat Connah’s Quay on Wednesday night.
Things have not gone perfectly for the champions at the start of the season, but after a run of five consecutive victories in all competitions it seems that the Saints’ shaky spell has come to an end.
Connah’s Quay are still in 9th place, but the Nomads are unbeaten in their last four league fixtures, conceding only once during that run.
This will be the first match between the clubs since Connah’s Quay won 2-1 against The New Saints at Rodney Parade in the final of the 2023/24 JD Welsh Cup.
But the Nomads have not beaten The New Saints in a league meeting since April 2021 with the Saints winning eight and having three draws in the last 11 contests between the teams in the JD Cymru Premier.
