The JD Welsh Cup second round is taking centre stage this weekend and all 12 JD Cymru Premier clubs are entering the competition, including the holders Connah’s Quay who will begin their defence of the cup against second tier Guilsfield.

The excitement kicks off on Friday night with seven games taking place, and six of the top-flight clubs in action.
In the only match between two top tier sides, Pen-y-bont will take on Cardiff Met for the second time within three days after the 1-1 draw at Cyncoed Campus on Tuesday night.
Although the Archers struck late against the league front runners in midweek, Pen-y-bont remain unbeaten in six meetings with Cardiff Met (W3, D3).
After two consecutive defeats at the Oval, Caernarfon Town will hope for better luck away from home against Holyhead Hotspur from the third tier.
Flint Town United, Bala Town and The New Saints will all expect to progress into the third round as they face clubs from the second and third tiers.

Trethomas Bluebirds are sitting at the top of the JD Cymru South, and they will aim to beat Haverfordwest County for the second time within two years after causing quite a shock in October 2022 (Tre 2-1 Hav).
After a shaky start to the season, both Aberystwyth Town and Connah’s Quay will be determined not to stumble against Ammanford and Giulsfield from the second tier.
Barry Town United will also host a JD Cymru South side, and the last three meetings between Barry Town United and Caerau Ely have ended in a draw.
Newtown face a trip to third tier Llanuwchllyn, while Briton Ferry Llansawel will be desperate to avoid embarrassment against fourth tier New Inn.
Cardiff Bay Warriors and Clwb Cymric are the only two clubs from the fifth tier still in the competition, and Clwb Cymric will welcome the 2010/11 Welsh Cup winners, Llanelli to Ocean Park on Saturday afternoon.
