The Football Association announces the suspension of football matches in Wales while the country is under Level 4 restrictions
The Football Association has today (Monday, 21 December) announced the National Sports Group – a body that includes representatives from Sport Wales and the Welsh Government – have rescind the elite status of the Cymru Leagues following the First Minister’s announcement that Wales are in the Level 4 Coronavirus Management Plan.
As a result of the decision, all games and activities involving non-professional clubs will be suspended.
The decision affects the following Leagues: :
• JD Cymru Premier
• Orchard Welsh Women’s Premier League
• JD Cymru North
• JD Cymru South
JD Cymru Premier has decided to postpone the remainder of January’s fixtures.
Although fixtures between professional clubs are permitted to take place during Alert Level 4, the JD Cymru Premier has decided that no matches will be played in January, having fully taken into consideration the rapidly changing public health crisis in Wales.
