Connah’s Quay Nomads will kick off their defence of the JD Cymru Premier title in 2020/21 live on S4C, as the JD Cymru Leagues’ broadcasting partner announce its first live matches of the domestic season.
S4C’s Sgorio series will be offering live coverage, on television or on-line, of each round of the new season during September and into October. There will be nine live games over the first month, including a series of live online broadcasts of midweek games. In addition, there will be two weekly highlights shows bringing the best from all the weekend’s matches.
Nomads, who secured their first ever JD Cymru Premier title last season, will kick off their domestic campaign with a home fixture against Bala Town on Saturday 12 September in front of the cameras for a 5.45pm kick off.
On Tuesday 15 September, Newtown’s home match against Caernarfon Town will be shown live online from 7.45pm, on the Sgorio Facebook Page and S4C Clic.
The top flight’s new boys, Haverfordwest County and Flint Town United, will also feature live within the opening weeks of the season.
The Bluebirds, who secured promotion from the JD Cymru South last season, will feature live on S4C in Round Three, when they host Newtown at 5.45pm on Saturday 19 September at the Bridge Meadow Stadium.
Flint Town United will feature in the month’s final live televised slot, when they host Barry Town United at the Essity Stadium on Saturday 26 September at 5.45pm.
Bala Town welcome The New Saints to Maes Tegid on Tuesday 30 September and that match will also be streamed online on the Sgorio Facebook page and S4C Clic at 7.45pm.
With Dylan Ebenezer at the helm and Nicky John at pitchside for the live televised matches, the Sgorio team will once again feature former internationals Malcolm Allen and Owain Tudur Jones, while former JD Cymru Premier managers Mark Jones and Tomi Morgan will provide English-language commentary via the red button.
As well as Sgorio Stwnsh, the Monday evening highlights show, there will be a second highlights show every Wednesday – Mwy o Sgorio, featuring games played over the weekend, during midweek, and featuring interviews with players and managers of the clubs involved.
In addition to coverage of the JD Cymru Premier, it was announced earlier this week that Sgorio will also be live streaming Bala Town’s UEFA Europa League tie against Standard Liege, on the Sgorio Facebook page and S4C Clic, from 6.55pm on Thursday 17 September.
