Wales beat the Czech Republic 1-0 in their second game of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Dan James scored the only goal of the game after 82 minutes, with Wales rising to third place in their qualifying group – one point behind the Czech Republic with Wales having a game in hand.

Gareth Bale won his 90 cap tonight and the captain created the goal by whipping a cross from the left to meet Dan James – with the winger’s header beating Vaclík, the Czech goalkeeper.

Gareth Bale has been a part of 14 Welsh goals in his last 19 appearances (scoring 7 and assisting 7) – assisting in each of his last four appearances for his country.

Patrik Schick saw a red card early in the second half for a foul on Connor Roberts, with Roberts being sent off himself after receiving a second yellow late on in the match.

Wales will travel to Belarus for their next game of the qualifying campaign in September, before welcoming Estonia to Cardiff.
